Thank you for your interest in the game! Before you get started writing that super awesome app, you should check out our FAQ and Rules page. Now, onto the nitty-gritty:

1. Apps are open on the 1st-7th of every month.
2. You may apply for up to 2 characters per app round.
3. Reserves and Applications are judged on a first-come, first-serve basis.
4. [Edit 11/30/2016] Applications are now capped at 20 apps per cycle. The received application page will be updated when we are nearing or have hit the cap. Any apps submitted while the received application page has less than 20 names on it will be considered valid.
5. You may apply for a character without a reserve.
6. Please copy the textbox in its entirety and fill out every field that applies to your character.
7. Respond to this post with either the full app in the comments, or a link to the app in a character journal.
8. Your comment title should be in the format of Character Name | Canon Name | Reserved/Not Reserved.
9. Apps must be complete at time of posting. If we find that a posted app does not have all required sections filled out, then the player will be notified and will have 24 hours to complete any blank sections. Any apps with missing sections after the 24 hour period will be rejected.
10. All comments are screened, we will not unscreen comments without player permission.
11. Our app process has three possible outcomes.

► Accepted: Congratulations, you've been accepted into Hadriel! Please read the acceptance notice carefully and follow the instructions therein.
► Revisions: Happens to everyone. We'll ask for revisions on any particular section if we need clarification or feel like there's not enough information to make a decision. We allow three days for revisions before the app is automatically rejected.
► Rejected: We will reject applications if we feel like the character breaks one of our app rules (listed in the FAQ section), if sections of the app are missing, or if we feel that too many revisions would be required to accept it. We will reject applications after the third revision request.

12. If your app has been rejected, you may reapply for that character in the next app round.
13. All app notifications will go out at the same time, after applications close.
14. The intro log will be posted on the 10th of each month.

World Description: For OCs only- delete if you are apping a canon character. Here is where a short description of your OC's world and the kind of place they came from goes. This doesn't need to be extensively detailed, we just need an idea of the setting!
History: A link to wiki is acceptable here, for characters with sufficient wiki entries. If your character does not have a Wiki, is an OC, or is not sufficiently mentioned in their canon's Wiki, then please give us a little more information about the story that lead up to their canon point. Please try to be concise- we're not looking for a play-by-play, we simply want an idea of what they've been up to!
Personality: As always, here's the section you want to be thorough on. If you're having trouble, ask yourself about your character motivations, how they interact with strangers or friends, what drives them, and how their personalities have developed and grown throughout canon. While we encourage the use of canon examples to back up personality statements, we also value your own voice and opinions here. 
Inventory: Weapons, pets, the kitchen sink? If it's on your character at the time of their canon point and it can fit through an 8' by 4' hole, then they can bring it in. Vehicles, large mechs, and pet elephants, however, will have to stay at home.
Abilities: This is the section where you would detail your character's powers, if they have any. In addition, we would like to know the things that your character excels at. Are they a good fighter? A chessmaster? Do they know ancient Greek? Let us know!
Flaws: In theory, the Door only brings in evil and chaos. Here is where you would detail the chaotic parts of your character- let us know some of the bad things about them, maybe some of the wicked acts they've done, why they could have been swept up by the Door. Even small things, like 'he gets angry when someone steals his lunch at work' or 'she oversleeps all the time' will count. If your character is the purest cinnamon roll to ever exist and has nothing horrible about them, then you can put that in this section as well and be an exception to the rule.

SAMPLES
Action Log Sample: We only require one sample in Hadriel, and it can either be in paragraph or bracket form. The sample must be at least 300 word minimum and should demonstrate your character's thoughts and introspection. You may link samples from our monthly Test Drive Meme as well.

As a sidenote, for CRAU characters, please remember that it is a game rule to ask permission before assuming CR with new characters that your character may have known in a previous game.

Here it is. Considering she was already in Hadriel before I used the CRAU application, I hope that's okay.

Canon Point: Just after Master Chief's appearance, when the squad is trying to start the General's warthog.
History: Chyler's wiki entry

Personality:
Chyler has an abiding loyalty to her fellow cadets, their leadership, and to the UNSC. The best example of this attachment is her relationship with Tom Lasky, someone who stands in opposition to most of her beliefs. She still sees something good in him, encourages him, and tries to push him to be the best soldier he can be in spite of his not being sure he wants to be there. She stands by him when their fellow cadets are ready to cast him off for being a fuckup, a pacifist, and a weakling. Once she decides she's in your corner, she doesn't move, no matter what the odds are or how unpopular her position might be.

She grew up on a colony embroiled in Insurrectionist violence, where her brother and cousin were presumably killed. Her parents also later died in combat against Rebels. In spite of this, or because of it, Chyler threw herself into military training. She's the top of her class at the Academy, and has a whole speech about the value of determination and perseverance. When she commits to something, she is in it 100%. Whether it's her classes, her hatred of Insurrectionists, or her friendships.

As evidenced by her position at the top of her class, she's got a strategic mind and a willingness to adapt--to plans that make sense. At one point, during a class on strategy, she's the only one of her class who can name the practical applications of the lesson and the modern equivalent of the ancient military forces in play. She's also the first (and only) cadet to use the invader's weapons against them during the attack on Corbulo.

The flipside of her determination is the degree of focus she can put on a single set of objectives. Her willingness to follow orders is ideal for a soldier, but not ideal for her personal survival or necessarily her advancement as an officer. In spite of her ability to adapt, she values chain of command and unit cohesion over individual action. She can lose track of the bigger picture in her dedication to cause, honor, or training.

She hates the idea of failure. Her last words to her squadmate are "I'm sorry," for leaving him, for failing her team through death. She didn't make it to their evac point; she failed their mission. All she has, with her family gone, is the military, and to fail them is worse than death. Her determination and her monofocus come together in a cocktail of self-flagellation at the concept of being even second best. She will excel, she will be the best soldier it's possible for her to be, and to fail in that mission is unacceptable.

Once she's made up her mind about something, that's the way it is, no matter the arguments brought against her. In spite of Lasky's attempts to get her to see the Insurrectionists as human, with human concerns and reasons for acting the way they do, she sees monsters who attack innocents without cause. It isn't until she's confronted with direct evidence of Insurrectionists and Marines working together that she has any reason to question her own beliefs. Even then, she has an intensely difficult time dealing with the idea that the Insurrectionists would be willing to work with anyone. It drives her half-crazy with confusion for the short time between that revelation and the attack on Corbulo.

Inventory: Clothing, her Corbulo Academy standard issue body armor, empty MA5D ICWS assault rifle, Type-51 Covenant Carbine with three shots.

Abilities: Chyler is a Freshman Cadet at the Corbulo Academy of Military Science. In addition to basic fitness, military courtesies, and hand-to-hand combat, Chyler and her squadmates are regular participants in combat exercises held against rival squads. They were also expected to excel at target practice and general academics, including basic lessons in tactics and strategy. Beyond what she's learned at Corbulo, Chyler was raised in a war zone. Her mother taught her to use a rifle when she was ten, and it's implied in a deleted scene that she was familiar with handguns and gun safety at an even earlier age.

Flaws: Violent, stubborn, and more than willing to kill those she's labeled the enemy, she can be a force for violence and chaos.
